Products I use as Software Engineer
Hello World. Some of my friends asked me about the product I use daily as Software Engineer. Let me share the lists of products I use day to day life and share some feedback.
First a good chair. Software developers spend lots of time sitting. So do I. Now I am using Green Soul Beast Racing Edition Ergonomic Gaming Chair with Premium Fabric & PU Leather, Adjustable Neck & Lumbar Pillow, 3D Adjustable Armrests & Strong Nylon Base (Black & Red) This is not the best seller product but it is perfect for my need. The same series of chairs has a better and costlier version. At the time I am writing the blog, it is a best seller on Amazon. The better version is Green Soul Monster Ultimate Series T Multi-Functional Ergonomic Gaming Chair with Premium Spandex & PU Leather Fabric, Adjustable Neck & Lumbar Pillow, 4D Adjustable Armrests & Heavy Duty Metal Base (Full Black) You will get different colors and sizes. This is actually a gaming chair.
I needed a heavy chair with a headrest so I use this. This chair has multiple good features which is very helpful for me. Like, it bends almost 180 degrees. Sometimes I take a nap by bending the chair. Taking a nap in bed is a bit lazy for me and it wastes me a lot of time so better to take a nap in a chair may be uncomfortable than in bed but it helps to wake up soon when the brain gets enough rest. If you are looking for an Office chair I recommend SAVYA HOMEĀ® APEX Chairsā¢ Apollo Chrome Base HIGH Back Office CHAIR2. There is one in my home. It’s very comfortable and a good product to use. It doesn’t have many features like the Green Soul gaming chair but it is pretty decent and very well fit for office usage purposes.
Laptop. This is the main tool for Software engineers. All the magic happened inside it. In school life I had Windows XP Intel Pentium 3 assembled Desktop. Then in College life, I assembled a Desktop with an AMD processor. I used Windows 7 and Ubuntu there in the dual-booting environment. Then when I got a job, I bought my first laptop. It was Dell. Unfortunately, my laptop was stolen on the train. I lost a lot of programs and photographs. Till then cloud storage was not so popular. After that, I bought Dell Inspiron N3050. 4 GB RAM with 500 GB HDD. Windows 7. I started using Virtual Box for working on other OS. Then I got Macbook Air 8GB 256 GB SSD. This was a completely different experience. Apple hardware is very good and optimized. After using Macbook Air couple of years It just stopped working. Everything has a lifetime. I decided to buy another good configuration laptop because now my work area got versatile and I experiment with different things.
I bought HP Pavilion 14 11th Gen Intel Core i5, 14 inches FHD, IPS, Micro-Edge, Anti-Glare Display Laptop (16GB RAM/512GB SSD/Windows 10 Home/FPR/MS Office/B&O Audio/Tranquil Pink, 1.41 kg),14-dv0055TU. This may not be available now when you are seeing this post but you will get a better version of it. When I am writing this post HP Pavilion 14 12th Gen is available. Why I bought this HP Pavilion? First It has 16GB RAM which is good enough for my work. 512GB SSD is added advantage of it. The most important feature is a backlit keyboard. I work at night, so it is very important to have a backlit keyboard so that I can work with the room light off. I have an RGB keyboard, but a built-in backlit keyboard is more convenient as I can work from anywhere without any additional accessories. Same configuration with Macbook Air M2 512 GB costs double.
The next best thing in my collection is Mouse. I use Logitech MX Master 3. It’s a bit costly but worth using it. I love the horizontal scroll and additional customizable buttons. The buttons can be customized for different applications. One of the nicest things is fast scroll. You will love the speed and precision of the scroll. I actually won 10K INR in one of the hacking contests and bought this item with the prize money. Best prize ever.
I love widescreen, so I bought LG UltraWide 21:9 26-inch monitor. I use this as a secondary monitor. It is very useful when I do multitasking. Mostly while attending meetings or checking wide Excel reports or editing videos etc.
I used to have a dual monitor as well. One the LG Wide monitor and another DELL monitor got from office. To attach two monitors, I use AmazonBasics Dual Monitor Stand. It’s very useful to adjust the monitors according to height.
I had to return the office monitor so I bought another Laptop Tray for Monitor Arms and Stands. I attached the laptop stand in one hand of the dual monitor.
My computer table is simple. Its Nilkamal Computer Trolley Table. I was looking for a good small affordable table which can fit in my room but still has not found any. Maybe I will upgrade it whenever possible.
I forgot the keyboard. Its E-YOOSO 60% Mechanical Keyboard, Red Switches Mechanical Gaming Keyboard. It’s a very nice mechanical keyboard with RGB.
Nobody uses a mousepad now. But I use one. Its Tizum Extended Mouse Pad. It’s actually a big pad that I cut into two parts. One I keep on the table another in the keyboard and mouse area.
These products I use personally and I purchased them as per my requirement and feasibly. I don’t want to promote any product. You can research by yourself and buy at your convenience.
